This unique type of cap is designed to cover the top of parapet walls. Flat coping offers a complete and attractive finish to any parapet wall. At the edge of these roofs parapet walls are commonly found and are vulnerable to leaks if not flashed correctly. Some plain parapets come with an added coping or corbel to help bear structural load but most of them are simply flat extensions of the wall below the roof.

A continuous cleat secures the front and the back is secured by a screw. The most common type of parapet seen nowadays is the plain parapet which is simply a basic flat wall extension. Many buildings have flat roofs in certain areas specifically for air condoning units and etc. If you didn t get it right you concentrated the stresses at roof edges and you could suck in a parapet or tear or rip a membrane at the parapet photographs 3 and 4.
